How to use Monitor
1
Set up your monitoring
You have two main monitoring modes:Competitor Watch
- Track specific competitors and get alerted to new creative launches
- Perfect for ongoing competitive intelligence
- Monitor your genre or theme for sudden performance surges
- Perfect for trend spotting and rapid testing
Most teams set up both: Competitor Watch for specific players and Breakout Detector for the broader market.
2
Configure your alerts
Customize what triggers an alert:For Competitor Watch:
- Competitors to track — Select up to 10 competitors
- Alert frequency — Daily, weekly, or real-time
- Threshold — Alert for all new creatives, or only high-performers
- Genre or theme — What to monitor (e.g., “fantasy RPG,” “cozy puzzle”)
- Performance threshold — Define “breakout” (e.g., top 5% in genre)
- Alert frequency — Real-time or daily digest
- Mode: Competitor Watch
- Competitors: [Competitor A], [Competitor B], [Competitor C]
- Frequency: Daily digest
- Threshold: Top 20% performers only
3
Review alerts and take action
When an alert fires, you’ll see:
Take action:
- Creative details — Thumbnail, link, launch date
- Performance context — How it’s performing vs benchmarks
- Pattern analysis — Themes, tone, key elements
- Similar creatives — What else is performing similarly

Monitor alert showing breakout creative
- Run Diagnose to understand why it’s performing
- Run Discover to see if it’s part of a broader trend
- Create a Creative Brief to test similar patterns
You’ve been alerted to a market shift or competitive move — and can respond immediately.
What to look for
When reviewing Monitor alerts, focus on:Competitive moves
- What are competitors testing? (new genres, themes, tones)
- Is this a one-off or a pattern? (single test vs strategic shift)
- How is their new work performing? (breakout, solid, or weak)
- Should we respond or ignore? (threat vs noise)
Breakout signals
- Why is this creative surging? (new pattern, perfect execution, lucky timing)
- Is it replicable? (can we create something similar?)
- Is it aligned with our brand? (natural fit vs forced)
- How fast is it spreading? (isolated success vs trend formation)
Trend formation
- Are multiple alerts showing similar patterns? (trend = multiple examples)
- Is saturation low or high? (early stage vs already crowded)
- Is performance consistent or variable? (reliable pattern vs outlier)
A single alert is interesting. Multiple alerts with similar patterns = a trend worth testing.

Best practices
Do:
✅ Set up monitoring early (don’t wait for a crisis)✅ Customize thresholds to reduce noise
✅ Review alerts regularly (daily or weekly)
✅ Follow up with Diagnose or Discover for context
✅ Share alerts with relevant stakeholders
Don’t:
❌ Monitor too many competitors (focus on top 3-5)❌ Set thresholds too low (you’ll get overwhelmed)
❌ Ignore alerts (defeats the purpose)
❌ React to every alert (prioritize strategic moves)
Monitor helps you stay informed, but not every alert requires action. Focus on strategic moves and clear trends.
Alert management tips
Reduce noise:
- Set performance thresholds (only alert for top 10-20% performers)
- Focus on specific themes or genres
- Use daily digests instead of real-time (unless critical)
Prioritize alerts:
- High priority: Competitor launches in your core genre with strong early performance
- Medium priority: Breakouts in adjacent genres or themes
- Low priority: Weak-performing competitor tests
Automate follow-ups:
- Set up automatic Diagnose runs for high-priority alerts
- Create Slack/email integrations (coming soon)
- Build a weekly review routine
Pro teams treat Monitor like a “creative radar” — always on, periodically reviewed, and integrated into their weekly workflow.
